[TenTec] [Ten-Tec-Omni-VII] TEN-TEC NETS TODAY (SUNDAY)

When the Omni 7 first came out TenTec was promising a real time scope that worked.  It came out weeks before Elecraft announced their K3s but at the time there was a long waiting list, perhaps 6 months before your K3 arrived --  HI.  If I had to do it over again, I would have kept my Orion and later switch to a K3.  All in all it has been a fun radio and I'm not totally disappointed.  People keep asking for updates, not sure there is much that can be done with it.  The firmware I think has pretty much been refined and cleaned up to maximize the hardware capability.

I love 6 meters as well, but looks like I may never see F2 again in my lifetime and so far this season not much is happening with summer Es either  --  HI.

David,

I am on the ten tec reflector at contesting.com and agree the ten tec net stuff is over running all the reflectors.  I ahve no interest in the nets or certificates
and do not approve of ten tec using the nets to market their gear.

I have has several ten tec pieces of gear starting with the Triton IV and on my third 229 tuner.  My interest now is expanding to 6 meters and digital (psk and real FSK rtty.  This leaves out the Orions but when you made your post I pulled out the Omni VII review in the 2007 QST.

Reading the review I am still lukewarm on the Omni VII.  6 meters is a plus and it appears the VII handles digital OK.  My pet peave with the middle of the road gear is that there is no independent control for VFO B.  At least the VII shows the frequency of VFO B.  I hate SSB voive equalizers, too.
