I have been having a lot of fun with my newly acquired Corsair 2. Consequently, I have decided to look for a nice clean Paragon 2. I downloaded the manual for them on the internet and it says the microprocessor has a power cell in it to maintain memory for 10 years. Well those radios are now well over 10 years old. The power cells must have died years ago.
How in the world do you maintain memory in a Paragon once the power cell in the microprocessor has worn out? There is no external battery! Do you replace the microprocessor and is it available and what do they cost? (Seems to me to be a problematic design). Is it possible to hang an outboard power source onto the microprocessor once it's internal power source fails? If so, how is this done? (Just to be safe, I checked the schematic around the microprocessor and as suspected, I find no external battery on the diagram).
I sure would like to hear from those more knowledgeable then me on this topic. This has me concerned and I have not, to date, found a Paragon 2 to purchase. I would suspect there is some easy remedy for this problem, or at least, it is my hope there is a simple solution available.
Thanks for reading this.
