Thanks for your reply Howie.

After you activate the address mode, in which positions of the display does
the code show up? As I noted in my first posting, my display shows EC.000.1,
and using the up/down buttons changes the rightmost character positions in
decimal sequence, not hex. I did change it to show EC.006.4 and EC.064.0,
but no joy with either of these. I'm assuming the two leftmost characters
are the ones of interest, but it would take a long time to get to them with
the up/down buttons. And I found no way to do direct code entry with the
number buttons.

Perhaps there is a problem with the control circuits for the serial
interface in the rig. The 305 works fine with my Icom rigs, so I know it's
good.
