[TenTec] Question for the list

I put the 2.8 Khz INRAD filter in place of the 2.4 in my Paragon II and liked
it so much I did the same thing to my Corsair. Especially on the Corsair
(don't ask me why) it made a big difference in the receive audio. On both it
greatly improved transmit audio, enough that the rag chewers I hang out with
tell me it sounds very good. They didn't do that before. These guys have
fancy stuff and good ears.
Since both of these transcievers have optional filters in the second IF, I
haven't missed the extra selectivity I'd be getting with the 2.4 vs the 2.8 in
the first IF. On the Paragon, the 2.8/1.8 combo is more than enough for
tough conditions. On the Corsair I have 2.8/2.4 which seems fine too.
One more thing. On both of these it's possible to have no filter in the
second IF -- that's called 6.0 on the Paragon II and a capacitor I soldered in to
one of the optional filter slots on the Corsair. That's the way I run both
of them most of the time -- no filter in the second IF.
And yet another thing. On neither transcievers did I need to reset the
carrier balance . I checked them. They were fine. Others have fooled around
with the carrier frequency on the Corsair and claim to get outstanding audio
by shifting it a bit. I haven't done that either but might.
