I have a TenTec Omni=C that I have used for about 6-7 years. About 2 years
ago I dropped it off at TenTec and they repaired my VFO, replaced a few
transistors, cleaned switches and re-aligned. It has worked very well since
until last week.
Normally I turn up the ALC all the way and turn the drive up until just
before the red ALC light comes on then back it off slightly. The meter on
the rig always goes up to around 9 on the dial face or a little lower if the
standing wave is a little higher than resanance. I usually get about 60-70
watts on the watt meter, depending on the band.
Last week I went to this same routine but the drive will not go above about
3 and the watt meter shows around 10-15 watts. This only happens on the 40
meter band. All other bands function correctly and the meter goes up to the
appropriate number as well as watts out.
People that I have talked to before on 40 meters claim that I am down in
signal strength and difficult to hear at times. Not as before.
Anyone have an idea before I pop it open and start looking around?? I
appreciate all reply's.
