Do any of you know of any modifications to the Corsair audio amplifier to improve the fidelity?

N1EU suggests bypassing it altogether -- tapping into the audio at a low level and taking it out to an external amplifier:

Rather than bypassing it, I would prefer to modify the one that's there to make it sound reasonable.  It seems doable.  It consists of a few op-amps driving a single power transistor.
Has anyone gone down this path before?  If not, do you have any suggested reading for an op-amp neophyte that might prepare me for tackling it myself?
