I'm still using my Corsair II - have tested a Yaesu FT-990, but even
though
that's a very fine tranceiver, the Corsair II is better on 160 and 80 meter
CW!
Now, operating split isn't as easy as with the FT-990, but as I have been on
the air since 1962 I'm used to turning the dials... BUT the SSB-portion of
the
Corsair II seems to be something that was just ''thrown in'' at the last
minute.

Someone will probably tell me to get an OMNI-6 but I just can't afford it,
there
were not many sold in Sweden, less than five I think, and getting one from
USA includes freight, customs, value added tax 25 percent etc. So I will
keep
on working all the DX with the Corsair II - with an amp, a modified SB-220
and an Ameritron AL-80A for 160 and antennas, the beam has an old CDE
HAM M rotator from the sixties. Parts for anything made in USA seems to
be always available - so my station is ''all American'' and has always
been,
used a Drake C-line, modified, before I got the Corsair II.

I hope TenTec will be in business for many years, and congratulations to all
of you who can afford an ORION,
