In re: Ten-Tec customer service, this is not a new phenomenon. Years ago, I
traveled to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to operate Sweepstakes CW from the shack
of a friend. I took my then-new Triton 544 with me. Late Friday night, it
"smoked". At first light Saturday morning, without calling first, I drove
to Sevierville. The factory was closed, but there was a light on in the
upstairs area, and a single car in the parking lot. I banged on the locked
door, and an elderly gentlemen came to the door. I wish I could recall his
name. Long story short, he let me in, took me upstairs to the service area,
disected my new 544, repaired it on the spot, tested it on all the
equipment, and sent me packing with my radio, all in time to get back before
the start of the contest. No charge. Try THAT with a rig from the Orient.

Customer service definitely pays dividends. I currently own an Omni 6+, a
Centurion, a Pegasus, a Scout, and an Argosy IID.
