Shawn,  I, also, suspect that your problem is that your equipment is in
the near field of the antenna.  Best solution is to raise the antenna
and move it away -- easier said than done for some of us!  As for the
dummy load with an RF-tight and short cable -- get one!!  That should be
mandatory provision of a station license.   The snap-on cores are worth
a try,but you might have to invest in 5 or six of them....    The
artificial ground is worth a try, too.  That amounts to a quarter-wave
counterpoise wire leading away from your TX chassis, and unconnected at
the far end.  The artificial ground approach is particularly convenent
because it allows you to tune the counterpoise length to match your
operating frequency and the effect of objects in the close encvironment.
At this point, I suggest that Ten-Tec's Artificial Ground is a
two-evening kit, and less expensive than other offerings.
