If you have to depend on someone to fix everything for you, then I would say
that it matters somewhat what you buy. Although, I would assume that the
cost would be up front or later in most cases. Pay now or pay later, maybe.

In the case of the Herk II, the relays are available surplus for around $35
each and chances are you won't need them. Ditto on needing the transistors.
I use my Herk II at about 400 to 500 watts out and don't expect any
problems. It's been in use for about 8 years now. If they occur, then the
ease of a solid state band switching amp is going to outweigh the
costs...easily.
