[TenTec] WTB

Hope you find one and you like it. I was hot for one until I found out the
potential repair costs. Ten Tec service will work on them and has parts
availability for all components. The rub comes when you need final
transistors or heaven forbid a new relay or two. The finals can only be
replace in pairs and the parts are $75 each. I believe there are 8 of them,
but not sure. Then the biggie. The relays are vaccum type and are $250
each just for the part, not including the labor. If you want a matching
unit and find one that is truly perfect, I'm sure you will get years of
enjoyment, but a used and matching centurian is a more reliable option, but
likely more money. Also I understand there are some parts problems with the
older Titans. I have no data points on the Titan II or III. I also heard
that if the Hercules I dies, will really cost you. Another ham tells me
that they will not work on one at the TT factory anymore. Parts is the
issue.

On a positve note for the Hercules II, automatic bandswitching with the Omni
V/VI series TT tranceivers would be a nice feature to have, so there you
are! Always some tradeoffs out there!

Good Luck,

David Drake, WD9CMD
