Yes, I believe there was a paragon II and I believe it was on the market
parallel with the Omni V. As I recall, the selling point of the paragon
was it had a general coverage receiver. Never owned a paragon, but from
people I have talked to, the omni v is a better choice, particularly for
your kind of operating. Regarding the Corsair, I also own one along
with an Omni C and a Drake TR4C. I doubt if you will find a better CW
rig anywhere. As for SSB, I have heard that the Corsair is a quieter
radio. My advise for you is to pass on the Paragon unless you need a
receiver with general coverage. If contesting is your passion, I
suggest you move up to a Omni VI or VI+, but a lot more $$. Go to
www.eham.net for radio reviews. There you will find a lot of additional
opinions.
