I had a similar problem about 10 or 12 years ago using my Ten-Tec Corsair II
to drive a Kenwood TL922A linear amplifier. At times the Corsair would
stick in one mode or another. Now many years later I understand the problem
being the T/R relay was "insufficient" for the voltage and current required
to pull the keying line of the amp to ground. This is not a "new" problem
and in fact is getting more severe as newer transceivers have smaller
lighter T/R relays. It would appear that the new rigs are designed for QSK
type amplifiers which require only a few milliamps to key them. An old
SB220 or TL922 would "kill" a newer rig in short order without a "keying
relay" buffer between the two. Icom rigs appear to be the most succeptable
to this problem...de gary, kd9sv
