Press Release for Azle News and Springtown Epigraph:
Tri-County Amateur Radio Club, the organization of ham radio operators for
the Springtown and Azle extended areas, continues support for the Shuttle
Parts Recovery Effort by providing equipment for the extensive volunteer
effort.
Nacogdoches Amateur Radio Emergency Service has sized down their operation
on the Shuttle Parts Recovery Effort search now that the epicenter is moving
northwest of their operating area. The Tri-County Amateur Radio Club WC5C
Portable Communications Center was utilized there for over a week.
Now the Athens Amateur Radio Club has requested to continue to use the
Tri-County Amateur Radio Club WC5C Portable Emergency Communications Center
in the new area of operation.
The Tri-County Amateur Radio Club provides training and coordination for
Amateur Radio Operators, to keep a ready contingency of skilled
communicators to serve the Azle, Springtown and Tri-County region. The
group provides manpower for the civil defense (now called Homeland Security)
communications, such as the Azle Emergency Operations Center radios in the
Municipal Fire Station, and for area SKYwarn operations in partnership with
the National Weather Service, Tarrant County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency
Service (RACES), Parker County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), and
Wise County ARES.
