I get my AA and AAA batteries at the dollar store.  They last about 1/2 
as long as Radio Shack (and other brand name) alkaline batteries for 
less than 1/3 the price.

Don't need a keyer!  Using CTWin for logging (personal for those who use 
their own calls and in the contest) the laptop is your keyer - assuming 
the LPT keying interface is wired up for paddle input.
