Dear Hank, et. al.,
I have decided to decline your kind invitation to join the group to FP in
November. My deepest apologies!
As I alluded to in a e-mail just the other day, Hank, I have too many
personal issues still facing me to devote the time and psychological energy
that I would want to devote to preparation for the DXpedition. For the
group, this is what I had sent Hank ... it summarizes some of these
'challenges':
"There are some personal things I have to work through. My wife died in
March, and there are still lots of loose ends to tie up. My daughter and 7
week old grandson are moving in with me during the last week in August, as
she has a new job just up the road, and her husband is in the process of
getting their current house near Milwaukee sold ... and find a new job up
here ... and then find a new house to live in. I haven't had an infant in
the house for years!"
Basically, I am now in a 'keep it simple' midset in order to cope.
Thank you, thank you, for asking me to participate! I will probably have
some pangs of 'I should have gone' come late November when I work you guys
during the test!
BTW, I worked FP/K9OT last evening in the NAQP on 40M; he was booming in
here, so if that is any indication, you will have to swat the calling
stations with a huge fly swatter!
I hope you can find as many great ops and 'comrades' as you need to fill
your roster.
Warmest regards,
Todd
