I clip leaded the pins together that you mentioned and she came right 
up.  Now to do a complete alignment and drop in some NPO's in that 
"drifty" VFO to make her rock solid.

Yes, if you have an extra 9 pin octal for the back of the 500CX 
accessory socket I would appreciate it.  My address on www.qrz.com/w6om 
is good.
