For shame, for shame ;o((((((

I haven't seen those; can someone please give me a link to one?

The radio, itself, is all I use 8-))))

Tube testers are no longer "cheap"; you'll pay over $100 for one that
actually works and more for a higher-quality type that has adapters, etc.
What you might do, though, is try to find someone local to you and offer
them a few bux to borrow theirs, or for them to test your tubes. Start with
your local radio club; ask the older geezers, who may know someone else
with one.
And few testers will actually work well with the balanced modulator tubes,
anyway. For those, you really need to use the radio.
What you're more likely to find bad in your radio will be small
electrolytics and maybe some mica bypass caps. Any carbon-composition
resistor should be considered suspect, as well; measure them with an
ordinary ohmmeter, both cold and hot. To get them warm, simply apply a
soldering iron to one or both of the leads.
