[Swan] Microphone question

Was poking around Radio Shack this afternoon and found a XLR matching
transformer, 600 Ohm/ 1/4" stereo male on one end & a 30 Ohm/ 3-pin  female
connector on the other.

Since the Swan rigs use 600 Ohm mic systems (aka D-104) would a person be
able to use this transfomer to use a newer type mic. on the old Swan?  as
well as hook to the computer for voice keying/PSK31, etc...

Just some thinking for the future...  nice boom mounted desk mic. for the
ham shack useable  on all radios???
