A few years back, I had given a friend of mine a small short wave radio (with SSB).  He was having a big barbeque party he was getting ready for, and low and behold I managed a German numbers station in the late afternoon / early evening in N. CA.

I've also found stations I thought I could not hear, by pouring over lists (which I computerized) and looked at all the freqs. that were supposed to be on at that time.
