>The phone patch thoery is intriguing. That may explain why Radio Cuba's audio is sometimes heard in the numbers broadcast. If the number station's transmitter is located at or near the shortwave station transmitter, the signal at times could be received by the phone line as RF, rectified into audio and passed along with the numbers audio.
