There was a problem with the 1200z transmission this morning on 6982 (m8)
as well. It started as a V2a transmission on 6983 LSB, with poor audio
(lots of hum and clicks). Then Pedro figured out the problem, the audio
stopped, and it switched to the M8 CW transmission. But I still heard some
hum *in between* the CW dots and dashes.

This foul-up now makes me suspect that they are feeding audio into a SSB
transmitter for at least some of the M8 transmissions, as opposed to keying
the carrier on a transmitter (both of course result in the same final RF
output).

Lots of V2/M8 transmissions have technical difficulties. I wonder if the
Cuban spies get training in understanding grarbled audio by working the
drive-thru of a fast food restaurant? <g>
