I would tend to go with the feedback theory, since I've been able to achieve that
effect
using feedback through an analog delay with a changing delay time. This is hard to
describe in words, but the delay time seems to be making discrete jumps as well as
making smooth sweeps.
I've been able to pick up the signal (as well as some of the Whales stations), but last
night I
couldn't hear it at all.
If I can find a tape using that analog-delay effect I'll post it on my Web site; it may
take a
while to track one down, but these stations don't seem to be going anywhere...
