He said it sounded like the famous G-E-C, not that it was.
The first bar has 4 notes, but the first one is dotted (?) and the second,
which is the same pitch as the first, kind of leads cadentially into the
third (the high one) and doesn't get as much weight, so I can see where the
association would come from.
These are the first two bars of the melody of a famous (if you're Cuban,
anyway) revolutionary song.
This is on-topic because this IS shows up occasionally on V2 and (as we've
seen here) all manner of other places. It's all just the wacky world of R.
