[SOC] Is EQSL purposely trying to upset their user base?

Hiya,

Your email reminded me I'd not checked my eQSL acct for a couple of
years. Time flies when u get old. Just been in and cleared my inbox.

I'd previously had silver membership but they didn't tell me when it
lapsed so I never thought abt it.

Like you, I don't bother with awards. I got my 5bandDXCC back in 1986
and that was it really. But like you I see they're now only letting you
print your awards if you're a paid member. The whole attraction was that
you could print of your own (say) WAC award, rather than having to pay
CQ money, and risk your QSLs in the post, back in the day.

The world moved on though and eQSL was a far more eco-friendly way of
collecting wallpaper. Then LOTW came along and refused to accept eQSL
credits, which seemed a bit spiteful. ARRL more recently decided that
claims for awards could only be all-electronic or all paper. I suspect
they did that so that the old hams at the top of the listings could be
knocked off as new countries were allowed, and the new all-electric
generation could get into the top spots.

Its all become a bit of a racket really....like life in general I
guess....but like you I reckon eQSL have shot themselves in the foot
with this new arrangement.

At least they let me keep my 'silver' QSL design, even though I can't
alter it as a 'regular' member :-p

They used to give you 'life' membership after they'd had $200 off you
(either in 1 lump or over several years). I was getting there at
$30/year with silver membership but I don't think they tot that up
towards your $200 any more.
