How about welding the tuning knob down and using Skimmer only to find

K0CKB bought me a Yaesu FTdx-5000 for my b'day.  Definitely not a SOC radio.

If I burn the "original boxes" will that make it SOC?

Or maybe turn up the compression to 100% and weld it there, only using the 
"DX" element on an old Heil mic?
