Match your 5000 up with a D-104 mic and a 'class Z' amp
with sweep tubes... Maybe you can find a Gotham vertical
from the 1950 era.
Result: You will be lucky to get out of your back yard.
If you do the FCC will probably make the trip to personally
shut you down...

ps; Substitute the 5000 with a Globe Scout and you have
my 1959 station... .............................................
I used to be indecisive. Now I’m not sure....

Subject: [SOC] SOC Radio?
K0CKB bought me a Yaesu FTdx-5000 for my b’day. Definitely not a SOC radio.
If I burn the “original boxes” will that make it SOC?
Or maybe turn up the compression to 100% and weld it there, only using the “DX”
element on an old Heil mic?
