Here is a question in an examination at the University of Nanterre.
One of the students’ answers was so crazy that the lecturer put it on
the Internet....
Question: Is Hell exothermic or endothermic? i.e. does it give off heat
or absorb it?
Most of the students answered using Boyle’s Law (if a gas dilates, it
cools down, and inversely, if it expands, it heats up) or variations on it.
One student answered as follows:
Firstly we need to know how the mass of Hell varies with time. We need
to know at what frequency beings enter and leave Hell.
I think that we can assume without risk that once beings enter Hell,
they don’t leave.
Similarly, to calculate the number of beings who enter Hell, we need to
look at how the different religions in the world today function.
Most of them say that if you are not a member of their religion you will
surely go to Hell. As there are several religions that have this rule,
and as most of us believe in only one religion, we could suppose that
everyone ends up in Hell…
Now let’s examine the speed of change in the volume of Hell because
Boyle’s Law states “ if the pressure and temperature of Hell remains the
same, the volume of Hell must increase proportionally to the number of
beings entering”
Consequently, there are two possibilities:
1)If Hell expands at slower rate than the number of entries, the
temperature and pressure would increase indefinitely until it exploded.
2)If Hell contracted at a speed more than the entries, then the
temperature would diminish until Hell froze over.
So which do we choose?
If we accept the philosophy of my classmate Jessica, who during my first
year at University stated that “Hell will freeze over before I sleep
with you” and accepting the fact that I slept with her last night, the
hypothesis must be true. Therefore I am sure that Hell is exothermic and
therefore has already frozen over.
The corollary of this is that as Hell has already frozen over, it
follows that it can no longer accept any more beings, and basically
ceases to exist.
Therefore it leaves only Heaven, and proves the existence of a Divine
Being, which explains why, last night, Jessica didn’t stop shouting « Oh
my God, Oh my God !…
This student was the only one who got 20/20.
