[SOC] Regenerating Detectors

Even better than spark gap, how about a discussion about regenerating
detectors? They are insanely sensitive and they regurgitate signals to
produce a feedback which makes them whistle - so they give sound to
continuous wave signals.

Anyone use one - like a regenerative receiver in the old days? I remember
one that Layfayette Radio had - it had a R.F. stage in front of the detector
so it wouldn't radiate the regenerative oscillations and it was insanely hot
receiver.

I believe it even had automatic gain control but if it did, it was a very
rare regen receiver - but it already was with the tuned RF stage in front
end.
