I have been working for the last 3 weeks on turning my old 2 element 40 meter monoband HiGain beam into a 30 meter beam.  This afternoon I finally got it hoisted up on a tower (not twoner) and to my great delight, it works fantastic!  My first contact was a IS0 in Sardina, and got a 599 report, a real good report as I was listening before and after and he actually sent some 559's and 579's.  I used a unusal design for the beam, it is of the ZL type but one designed by N7CL.  You can google N7CL and you will read and see he design, it is only 3 pages.  It is only on a 30 foot tower at the north edge of my barn on a tilt up tower.  However the take off is over 100 feet to the west, north and east. I did not put a rotor on her yet, but I can armstrong it to the north, north east and south east for now which is where I want to work anyway.  Do any of you SOC members use, have used or know of anyone who uses a 2 element full size 30 meter beam?
Wishing you all good luck in the contest, gud DX and GL for the rest of your ham career. 73, Rich K8UV
