You don't have to be in the same contest. Heck, I've worked guys who
weren't even in the same time zone. My favorite QSO was with Duck
Dodgers in the 24th and 1/2 Century. His call was W1QUACK.
BTW Phil, what IS that single digit you use for contests?

That Oklahoma qso party seemed to take over the entire
CW band this weekend. Very little SOC or EQP activity
was observed.
I worked W1SOC this weekend while he was calling CQ
EQP. I have a question. Because I don't have an
Elecraft serial number nor an SOC member number, my
exchange for both contests was the same. I used my
call, RST, S/P/C, and power level (5 watts). I copied
W1SOC's SOC #1 while he was working someone else. Can
I log the same QSO for SOC credit in addition to EQP?
There must be some rule somewhere that specifies both
stations in QSO must agree to be working the same
contest. This is starting to bother me. I don't really
know if I qualified to have a valid entry in the SOC
Marathon Sprint this past weekend.
