[SOC] Mayhem with the FOC!

Well as some of you know, I had the SOC logo printed on the back of a
T-Shirt and attended the local Radio Rally last Sunday, with my 10 year old
daughter to keep me company / ward off strangers etc. (I think it wise at
this point to let you know, I have been teaching my daughter Morse, and
although she's a little girl, she's more like Huckleberry Fin. Your real
life pocket Rambo. In fact, I call her my Rambette, but I digress).

Now picture the scene......Radio Rally (Hamfest in the US) was packed. Lots
of junk and new rigs and aerials (antennas) and lots of people.

Whilst standing chatting to a friend of mine, I got a nudge, and looking
over my shoulder discovered this somewhat smartly dressed (almost dapper)
chap glaring at the back of my T Shirt.

"Whats that ?" he asked pointing at the SOC Logo (which is incidentially
about 12 inches in diameter). I said "Its the Logo of the Second Class
Operators Club. You know, bit like the First Class Opertors, where
excellence in sending with one's left foot is tolerated, but not
encouraged."

"Hummph" he replied, "you M1 operators, never learned Morse. No moral Fibre,
Humph"

"Morse" says daughter.... (Not wishing to be left out)..."isn't that what
you have been teaching me ?"

"yes" I said, at which point my daughter starts whistling ....QSD QSD LID
LID

Samrtly dressed dapper chap stormed off. My daughter then asked why he was
so upset. I told he was a snob. As children do, she then asked "What is a
snob." Not wishing to hinder the childs education, I told her "a snob was
someone who gets out of the bath to pee".

Good job her mother wasn't around....and we have a shower in our house !
