[SOC] Off topic observations and a question

I think it depends on what part of the country you're in, Derek. Here
in Mighty MO (Missouri), we pluralize pairs, pears, and even pares, not
to mention many other items (especially beers). Pluralizing beers is a
favorite pass-time of most Missourians. It provides for clearness of
mind and speech, and, speaking from personal experience, is a popular
aphrodisiac.

    See http://www.nhscot.org/HeavyAthletics.htm
although it may not be the real origin...

No plural for hundredweight, either - strange.
The Amurricans take this farther and don't pluralize
or even pluralise "pair". As in "I have 2 pair of
    tickets".

And their "in back of" for "behind" bugs me, although I
realize/realise that we use "in front of" with no probs.
