[SOC] cricket injuries

I'm sure people have been seriously hurt, and probably killed, by
cricket balls (players and spectators).  It's a very hard ball and 
can move very fast.  If a ball intended for the boundary hits a
player it can hurt.   Rugby or Amurrican football is probably worse, 
though, since you spend a lot of time deliberately attacking members 
of the opposing team.   This is not supposed to happen in cricket.

So it's not really a joking matter, although in the context of SOC 
most things seem to be...
