The present Royal family of Gt Britain was originally the house of
Sax-Coburg and Gotha (Germany) when Edward VII was coronated.
His son George V changed it to Windsor on July 17, 1917 due to
a very high anti-German sentiment amongst the British during the
first world war. The ruling house of Gt Britain prior to that was
the House of Hanover starting with George I who could not
speak any English so the whole court had to learn German. He
begat George II who begat George III who was kind enough to
grant us our independence. The George's also helped to populate
Australia so it all worked out for the best for many of us.

Carlos
