Yeah... That'll get your attention too.

I was working on a C-130 one evening and the guy who was working with me
asked me to pass him the soldering iron. He was on one side of the
electronics rack and I was on the other. After he got done cussin' and
fussin', he asked me why the hell I handed him the HOT end. I guess maybe
he expected ME to be holding that side.

'Nother time I was working on another C-130... Back behind the spoiler that
is supposed to deflect air away from the paratroop door. It was raining and
fairly nasty, and I couldn't help but notice the smell of jet fuel that the
jet was giving off. Of course, I was buried up to my armpits in aircraft
and couldn't see a darn thing around me... But just as I pressed the trigger
on my trusty old Wellar soldering gun, lightning struck the top of the
cement plant across the street. I thought I was a goner... Figured I'd
blown myself to bits. It took several minutes for my partner (the same guy
from the soldering iron incident above) to quit laughing at me. I also had
some mild abrasions from where I attempted to straighten up (rather quickly)
and banged my head into the bulkhead (and the many rivets protruding from
which).

Every now and then I really miss working on aircraft... Then I think of
stuff like that and go drink a beer instead!

Mike

Ummmm,

How else do you check that a soldering iron is up to temp??

Apart from the roast pork smell you get when picking one up that you think
is off. Ouch...

P ;-)
