[SOC] Bill of Non-Rights

I have a couple issues, too...
1 - "ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country." What about the
huge percentage of American citizens who speak only Spanish?
2 - "ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's
history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true
God." Let's see, there are two parts to this one.
A - Whose interpretation do we use? The one where those of us
whose ancestors immigrated from Europe and Asia came over and stole
the country from the Native American tribes who lived here long
before the Old World even dreamed of the Western Hemisphere? Or
the one where we white people own the whole country and everyone
else be damned?
B - Actually this country was founded on the belief that
government should rely on no one person, but on the rule of law.
After all, that's what the Declaration of Independence says. If it
were founded on the belief in "one true God", which one would that
be? Would it include Hindu or Shinto gods, of which there are many?
Or if you're talking about the Christian god, would that be the
Methodist god? Or the Baptist one? Perhaps the Catholic god is
your choice? Don't forget Allah or Jehovah! =20

Nice one.
Since we don't have a constitution (let alone a Bill of Rights), as a
Brit
I'm hardly in a position to judge.
By and large though, it's all complete and utter common sense (not very
common according to Heinlein).
Two issues:
1) I'm not keen on the idea of frying/poisoning/hanging/shooting/gassing
people 'cos the process is too error prone.
(This issue nearly broke the list a while back and I will make *no*
further
comment).
2) Are you sure you speak English?
Paul ;-)
