Chris,

I had a triple bypass in 1993 and was able to work until 2002
when I retired. Two years past my 65th birthday.

Hardest part was switching to no-fat/lo-fat foods. Never
bothered to read the food labels prior to that. The biggest
bother was the scar down my leg where they stripped the vein.
It took the longest to heal. At first your sternum moves around
a bit until the bones reknit but I never felt pain. As they use
your mammary artery for one graft you will feel a dead spot
on your chest. A good attitude is the the most important thing
to not becoming a "cardiac cripple".

You will find yourself up and around in less than 5 months and
unless you dig ditches for a living you will be able to return
to work sooner.

Good luck on your operation and hope to hear from you soon.
