Well,  I'm working from memory here but there's a quote from Heinlein that
goes something like, "The one thing that should definitely disqualify a
politician from seeking office in a democracy is actually wanting to do the
job."

P'rhaps it should be like jury service; you're selected at random from those
that are suitably qualified and you either serve in office or spend a
similar term in jail.
