[SOC] an apology ot US members

Paul....
Canada and the United States have been friends for a very long time, and
while President Bush may feel disappointment that Canada is not taking an
active role in the war in Iraq, Canada's traditional role on the world scene
has been clear for the last 40 years or so...
We will remain friends, that will not change...
I feel torn by the situation, my heart tells me that we should be helping
out, but my mind tells me that our role will begin when the hostilities are
finished in Iraq..
Peacekeeping can be tense and dangerous. ask any soldier that did a tour of
duty in Cyprus.
I just sat staring at the screen for a half hour.... I wish I could express
how I feel a little more succinctly..
I am proud to be a Canadian, perhaps a little less so when I hear of
homeless people dying on the streets of Toronto and Vancouver, children
going to bed hungry and abused women.... These are things we could do
something about...
