At the time of the Birmingham bombs my best friends came from an Irish
Catholic family (I only lost touch when we both moved away from home).
Being young at the time a conversation started about the news of the
bombings and it was only after a while that the realisation dawned that his
Mum and Dad would worry what their neighbours thought about them!

I have never blamed anyone, such as my friend and his family, for what might
be undertaken "in-their-name" by other people. In the same way as I object
when people blame me for what my great-great-grandfather might have done in
other countries. It does, however, concern me what might be being done in
my name now, and what that might make people think that I might have
supported and condoned, even if I did not, now!
