Yes Paul, I saw the last airworthy Vulcan at Barton, Manchester. He he did
his usual display, then disappeared for a while, to eventually reappear from
behind the crowd flying slowly at a few hundred feet - no more. Just as he
passed over our heads he pulled the nose into the sky and hit full thrust.
There was this god-almighty chest-shaking roar, and we were left staring
into the back of its engines for about 30 secs, then he was gone into the
low cloud, to be replaced by the wailing of many car burglar alarms and
children in the crowd, who were all staring at each other in disbelief.
Magic, pure magic.
