Paul et al,
I grew up in Farnborough, home of the Farnborough International Airshow
which used to be an annual event during my formative years, but later became
bi-annual with the Paris show. We lived so close that in the days it was
televised we could see almost the same view out of the window that was being
shown on TV!
I can concur on the awesome sight of the Lightning climbing vertically on
its tail!
Another sight that I will never forget was four Harrier jump jets hovering
over the runway and swaying left and right, back and forth in time to some
ballet music being played over the PA. Then without warning they would be
off, only to appear a few seconds later making a low fast pass down the
runway.
