[SOC] Iambic

Hello SOC members,

My name is Ted, JA1VJQ and I recently joined this
mailing list. Also I'm a member of JARL A1(means CW)
Club in Japan. The # of membership is over 500 people 
one of the largest CW Club in Japan, but most of members 
are begginer, so no one could answer to my question.

The question is, where is the word of "Iambic" come from?
Is this toolship from England?
Is this someone's name who invent Mode A and Mode B?
or some technical jargon?
Please let me know.
