Ian, I know just what you mean.  Here on the marge of the Mojave Desert, it
only reached a brisk 43C today, having really cooled off from last Friday's
45C.  It's a regular cold wave, sort of.  Probably won't last long.
August, of course, usually gets pretty hot.  Not too bad, though.  About
the hottest it ever gets around here is something like 48C.
