At some level, everything is a black box. Depends upon curiosity and
training.

For me, with computers, it goes down to the transistor level. Beyond that,
I'm in the dark ;-) . I understand fairly well what the beast does and how
it behaves but I'm unclear as to why this occurs (and that's despite a
semester in 'solid state' as part of a (failed) physics degree course some
25 years ago).
