The French national flag is very cleverly designed. It is actually made up
of three separate pieces of cloth, only very lightly stitched together. This
is so that you can quickly rip the ends off and just wave the middle bit at
the first sound of gunfire.
Alternatively, you can cut two circles from the white bit and stitch them
either side of the red bit. A couple of minutes work with a black marker pen
will then see you OK if the Germans come to town.
