The then "Ministre de la Sant�" (Health secretary) has comitted a vy famous
word, now oftenly used here :
"Je suis responsable mais pas coupable". (I am responsible but not guilty).

This woman used also to be the "director" of the French Branch of the
International Red Cross ...

And after the Brit and French, let's put USA into this unpolitically game :
French blood which was contaminated has been kept on the market bcoz an US
firm/laboratory was lobbying hard to get accepted their blood test in France
thus involving administrative delays while in the meantime French firm (via the
Pasteur Institute) had yet developped a succesful test and which was (as far as
I remember) and is still nowadays (????) more efficient than the US version.
