[SOC] Religion

Personally I find peoples beliefs - and why they have them - to be a
fascinating subject in itself. As one of those unfortunate people to whom
God (if there be one) has decided not to reveal his face, I therefore count
myself as one of the 'searchers'.

I want to believe....I just don't....(although if there is a god, I will be
delighted).

Moslems (much as they are 'out of vogue' at the moment) do have a prayer in
their liturgy asking God to grant comfort and personal 'presence' to those
outside their faith who, for whatever reason, are sadly denied their own
individual revelation.

Christians, emphatically, do not.

Given that the religion was founded by a remarkable and truly 'good' man
born long before his time, capable of great compassion, forgiveness, wisdom
and understanding (even to hated foreigners and the vicious Roman 'enemy'),
Christianity has unfortunately inherited too much from Judaism, and
therefore treats 'outsiders' as outsiders. All discussion is heresy...to be
silenced and crushed.
