Hello all,
Poor cndx on air so I stop a while and will make some QRM on the ML.
Lloyd, I am now reading the papers from QST mag abt the Remote
stations. Technically speaking, the idea is a super one for
educational purposes. I may try it to show my colleagues what
radio-op means, and how fool we are spending our nites & days on air.
But besides that I can not understand how QST (ARRL's Pravda) can
publish such info as : "(...) K4WR has no radio or antennas and made
QSOs with VP6DI and a lot of European stations on 75m (quite a feat
from the western USA) (...)".
It would be interesting to check if K4WR is a DXCC holder ...
Ok, once agn I will be "la mouche du coche". I know that "a lot of"
stations are using unlegal ways to work DX (we all know guys running
lists of friends' calls in a pile-up. I have personnaly experienced it
while operating 3W2KF. On SSB they even not try to "alter" their voice).
So these remote stations (3 for now) is not a real problem in itself.
But I can not understand how the FCC does not ask for some kind of
clear identification while on air. For example, some automatic sending
system just like the one used by repeaters, giving the callsign of
the station (W4MQ or whatever it is) on a regular basis.
Bcoz to me these "IRBs" are nothing else but repeaters.
But once agn I do agree : on a technical & eductionnal point of view (and
for the fun !), the idea is great. I can try something like LZ5KF
working with F5PBL. Who cares if on the official docs, holders of
these calls are an unique guy ?!
Now Lloyd, 2 pbms : here no DSL internet link & no fixed IP address.
But worths the try via DNS2GO as explained in the paper.
Just wondering why we need M$ Netmeeting while the sound card should
be enough in itself but well ...
And as I do not have any microphone, it will be CW only :o) Hurra !
A bientt !
72!
Claude (now wondering abt his exact callsign)
